Cape Town is in Western Cape Province, the municipality is known as the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality. This city was founded in 1652 and now has a population of around 3 million. Cape Town is the third largest African city ie South African. Cape Town in one the most beautiful and best world cities and is a famous African city. The largest number of tourists visit Cape Town, one of the best cities in Africa and the most popular South African tourist destination. Cape Town was originally developed as a stores stop for Dutch ships to Eastern Africa, the Far East and India , some 200 years before Suez Canal construction iin 1869. For a long time, Cape Town was South Africa's largest city until Johannesburg and Durban came along. Since 1961, Cape town has been legislative South Africa capital.
Cape Town was home to the anti-apartheid movement. Nelson Mandela delivered his first public speech on 11 February 1990 from the balcony of Cape Town City Hall hours after being released. His speech heralded the beginning of a new era for the country, and the first democratic election was held four years later, in April 1994. Since 1994, Cape Town has struggled with social problems such as tuberculosis, HIV - AIDS, and a surge in violent drug-related crime. The economy has also progressed due to tourism and real estate industries boom.
Cape Town center is at northern end of Cape Peninsula. Table Mountain is a lovely backdrop over 1,000 meters high and surrounded by Devil's Peak and Lion's Head. The cloud strip forming over the mountain top is jocularly called the tablecloth. Cape Town has a Mediterranean type of climate. Excellent high school attendance and good higher educational
institutions as well as internationally recognized diplomas and certificates of educations has endeared Cape Town to foreign investment and the city is regarded as having a good future.
