Adelaide

Adelaide is the coastal capital and largest Australian city of the state of South Australia. It is thus the South Australia capital. It is the fifth largest Australian city with a population of close to 1.2 million. Major population growth areas in recent years have been outer suburbs such as Golden Grove and Mawson Lakes. The city is close to the Torrens river. The city was named to honor Queen Adelaide, King William IV's consort and was founded in 1836 - capital to the only freely settled British state in Australia. From the first day, Adelaide's outlook in all matters worldly has been progressive and it is today known for its festivals and wine, arts and sports. South Australians and many others regard Adelaide as the best Australian city. It certainly is a famous Australian city while one of the largest Australian cities can't be doubted. The city deserves praise as one of the best cities in Australia and best world cities.

Adelaide is the administrative, financial and economic capital of South Australia. Adelaide has Mediterranean type of climate with rains in winter months. Wealthier and generally more well-educated Adelaideans are in coastal suburbs of Brighton and Glenelg, eastern suburbs of Tusmore and Norwood and south-eastern suburbs of Burnside and Waterfall Gully. Adelaide's economy's mainstay are defence technology and research, manufacturing,, commodity export and secondary and ancillary and service industries. The electronic segment with an annual growth rate of 15 per cent is big and happening. Every second car produced in Australia is an Adelaide product. Seventy per cent of Australian defence companies are located in Adelaide.

Adelaide is known for its churches, music, cultural and sporting events. Adelaide has a strategic hub for north-south and east-west routes. The city has a public transport system, the Adelaide Metro which comprises of a contracted bus system that oncludes the O Bahn Busway, Adelaide-Glenelg Tram and metropolitan railways.
