Dresden happens to be the capital of the German Federal Free State of Saxony. Dresden in Europe is a beautiful city situated on the picturesque valley of River Elbe. Dresden, one of the best cities in Europe is located on the banks of the Elbe. The city is recognized by its typical Baroque-style architecture. The city of Dresden is home to numerous museums and has some of the world’s best art collections. For these reasons Dresden often dubbed as “Elbflorenz” which means Florence of the Elbe. Dresden happens to be the 4th biggest urban district of Germany following suite after Berlin, Hamburg, and Cologne. The neighboring German cities surrounding Dresden are Chemnitz in the southwest, Berlin in the north and Leipzig in the northwest. The Czech capital Prague is about 150 km to the south; the Polish city of Wroclaw is about 200 km to the east.
The most interesting part of Dresden is, 63% of this city is covered with green which makes it one of the greenest European cities. Most of the city has forested areas. The city teeming with greenery houses as many as four nature reserves. Apart from these, there are many gardens, and parks in the city. The picturesque Dresden Elbe Valley is an UNESCO world heritage site.
