Lisbon

Lisbon is called one of the best cities in Europe. It is the capital city of Portugal and also the largest city of the country. Being the political centre it has the seat of government and houses the Head of State residence as well. The Romans ruled the Lisbon city in Portugal, Europe from the 205 BC. During the reign of Julius Caesar it was called Felicitas Julia. In 1147, the Afonso Henriques crusaders conquered Lisbon for the Christians and it became a major centre of trade and commerce.

Lisbon is considered amongst the wealthiest regions of Portugal and one among the best world cities. The main economy of the Lisbon region is dominated by the tertiary sector. Most of the company head quarters of the country are situated in the Grande Lisboa sub region. The metropolis Lisbon is one of the most industrialized, especially towards the southern bank of river Tagus. Lisbon is also rated one of the most dynamic technological hubs. Media in Lisbon is also quite pronounced as it has a vast network of television, radio stations and newspapers.

For the tourists, Lisbon in Europe has quite a number of attractions. The Jazz club located along the Tagus River is known for the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos which dates back to 1501.
